ONTARIO DISABILITY SUPPORTS PROGRAM

Oasis offers Job Preparation and Job Placement services to Ontario Disability Support Program Employment Support recipients. This program focuses on individuals in recovery from drug and alcohol addictions who have concurrent disabilities and are unemployed or under-employed. The employment team works with individuals to create a realistic Employment Action Plan, as well as providing assistance with life skills, resume preparation, interview and networking skills.

The program consists of the following assessment tools:

INTAKE AND ASSESSMENT
Assesses employability of an individual based on stability of recovery, education and employment history and goals.

ACTION PLANNING
Includes overview of the Action Planning process, provide guidelines for successful goal setting and identifying steps towards a realistic career goal geared to employment.

INFLUENCES OF VALUE ON CAREER CHOICES
Discusses early influences on career choices, benefits of working, values and priorities and elements of job satisfaction.

PERSONALITY DIMENSIONS
Analyzes personal temperament style, relating it to team building, self confidence and to career choices.

CAREER EXPLORATION INVENTORY
A self directed career planning test, which helps to identify current skills, past experience and future interests.

TRANSFERABLE SKILLS
Discusses the importance of identifying skills and application of transferable skills in the marketplace and effective use of transferable skills in career change/transition, resume and interviews.

RESEARCHING AND NETWORKING
Develops skills for researching occupations, industries and companies and exploring the hidden job market. Includes developing self-marketing skills.

LABOUR MARKET TRENDS
Explores labour market trends and new economic trends, identifying facts influencing these trends and the role of labour market trends in career decision making.

Learn to develop networking contacts, investigate specific occupations and job requirements; learn to market skills to potential employers. Individuals participate in job placement activities by working one-on-one with the Job Development Team as well as learning self marketing techniques. Oasis has an extensive network of employers and the employment team helps develop employment opportunities and generates job leads by job developing specifically for these individuals. Once an individual has obtained employment, the employment team communicates on a bi-monthly basis with employed participants and employers to determinate any job placement and job retention issues.
